Summer Financial Aid
Eligibility requirements
- Completed FAFSA with all requested documentation submitted.
- Must be enrolled in a degree or certificate program and enrolled in classes at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Dartmouth.
- No financial aid will be available for coursework taken outside of Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Dartmouth unless enrolled in an approved study abroad program.
- Student must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as determined by the Financial Aid Office at the end of the spring semester.
- For Direct Loan consideration: undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 4.5 credits.
- For Pell Grant consideration: undergraduate students may be enrolled in 1 credit or greater.
Award determination
- Summer aid eligibility for students who are registered in summer courses will be reviewed by the Financial Aid Office beginning in May. Students will be notified through their Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Dartmouth email account.
Types of Financial Aid available
- Federal Pell Grant: Pell Grant eligibility is determined by the Federal Government and based on demonstrated financial need.
- Summer Pell: Summer Pell is awarded to undergraduate students who are Pell eligible and registered for at least one credits for summer.
- Federal Direct Loan: You may be eligible to borrow Federal Direct Loan during the summer if you have not already received the annual limits listed below during the fall and spring semesters.

NEW Summer 2026 – If you have been offered a Federal Direct loan for the Summer semester, this loan will not automatically be applied to your balance. If you need the summer loan, you must log into COIN self-service to accept or decline. To reduce the amount, accept first, then request the new amount. The deadline to accept the loan is Friday, July 31, 2026.
