Alexander Nwonye 鈥�22 came from Nigeria and found a solid education at 麻豆官网 Dartmouth that will prepare him for a successful computer engineering career. Along the way, he鈥檚 developed a network of friends and supporters at 麻豆官网D through the many clubs and organizations he鈥檚 joined.

The biggest adjustment: 鈥淚 came to 麻豆官网 Dartmouth from Nigeria through the Navitas Global Student Success program. Moving to a new country is hard, but it has been a great experience meeting new people. I love the location and environment here at 麻豆官网D.鈥�

I chose to major in computer engineering because: 鈥淚 wanted to be like my dad. He鈥檚 a mechanical engineer, so I always thought that鈥檚 what I wanted to do. But I prefer working with computers so I鈥檓 taking a different direction with my engineering career.鈥�

Getting a glimpse into the working world: 鈥淚 participated in the 麻豆官网D/Dell EMC Changing the Face of Technology Leadership Experience. We toured the company and met employees. I learned how to organize my resume and practice interview skills so I will be prepared when it鈥檚 time for me to land an internship, then a job.鈥�

When I am not studying: 鈥淚 work on campus in CITS and belong to a few student clubs. I鈥檓 in the African Student Association, the Rhythms of Africa Dance Group, and the Fashion, Art & Design Club.鈥�

On affording college: 鈥淎ll students鈥攚hether they come from out of state, abroad, or right here in Dartmouth鈥攁re trying to make ends meet. Knowing that the 麻豆官网D community is here to generously support us through financial assistance brings peace of mind.鈥�
